Nobody knows you and nobody gives a damn

So I watched “Welcome to the Rileys” today and I’m sad because I feel like it deserved so much better than Kristen Stewart. The other two leads were wonderful, but I spent most of it being like STOP GETTING PAID SO MUCH K-STEW.

She has this weird voodoo effect over me in every movie because I try to like her and I start to think “maybe she is actually good in this? Maybe this is a good role for her?” and I begin to question my life, belief system etc. But then she says a line like this ^ and I am just so aware of her acting. I think if this was the first movie I’d ever seen her in, then I might believe she is a good actress. I try to like her because there’s no such thing as a good Twilight script and Bella is such a bland character that I don’t think she would be any different in the hands of someone else. Em in Adventureland is seemingly supposed to be as apathetic as she comes across. But there is so much to this movie and this role and if this is her acting her ass off in an independent/ project movie, then sorry, but I’m not sorry that I think there are more talented people that could’ve done it justice. Ditto for Into the Wild- just didn’t buy anything about the vulnerable/ agressive thing.

Anyway, if you care, I found Welcome to the Rileys engaging and empathetic. I LOVED Melissa Leo (she is just so fucking fabulous) and I thought the Doug/ Allison (or Mallory) relationship was so well written and played out (on James Gandolfini’s part) that it never crossed into creepy territory, even though it walked a very fine line. Sad, beautiful and worth a watch for sure.
